TTP Review
Quantum is a Fabbri Magic Carpet, which places 40 people on a "carpet" seated in rows facing each other. The carpet rises and falls, being powered by 4 arms that rotate in wide circles: 2 at either ends of the platform. This motion gives riders a great feeling of weightlessness, and even some elusive airtime. The fact that riders sit opposite each other, on either half of the carpet, means that guests can watch each other's expressions, which certainly adds to the ride experience.
Unfortunately, Quantum is also quite a jerky ride, and it may hurt your back or neck with its harsh movements. It is showing its age badly too, with some of the original themeing no longer present on the ride. It is also not for people who get queasy - it can easily make you sick. This, along with the fact it has a high throughput, means that Quantum usually has short queues.
If you have a strong stomach, enjoy negative Gs, and don't mind being bumped around a bit, then Quantum provides a good distraction. It makes a great use of a small space and is relatively unique in Thorpe's flat ride lineup. By no means a blockbuster attraction, give it a go if queues are short.
Positives:
Thrilling ride packed into a small space.
Quite often has tiny queues.
Negatives:
Not particularly well built - the ride violently shakes when it is in operation.
Nauseating.
In the shadow of other, bigger and better flat rides.
Verdict:
Themeing/Presentation
Smoothness/Comfort
Enjoyment/Fun
Intensity/Scariness

"This ride looks sweet and innocent before boarding, but once seated you realise it's a full throttle intense ride which will make you scream for more!" Matt, Hampshire, UK.
"A really fun ride, but don't put your hands up when going backwards because you can bang them on the seats in front. I'd definitely go on it again though! It's good fun!" Katie, Bookham, UK.
