Review:
It's
so simple. Rush is just like your common playground swing - but
bigger - as it's slogan says; "Size does Matter". Rush
is an S & S Giant Swing, which is capable of holding 32 riders
at once, on 2 arms. Rider swing at heights of 75ft and speeds
of around 40mph. The arms swing at different times to each other,
to increase the ride experience - you can see the reactions of
riders on the other swing! Riders, once they have boarded the
ride, sit in very deep seats with only a minimal lap bar restraint.
It makes you feel very free and quite vulnerable!
The
ride uses compressed air to move the substantial arms, meaning
it makes one heck of a noise as it operates, which actually only
heightens the experience - this ride feels powerful.
Riders get higher and higher until they reach the highest swing.
This part of the ride is quite exhilarating - you feel quite
insecure! Having said this, the wind in your hair and plain speed
of the swing make the entire ride really enjoyable.
After one or two swings at top height, riders slow down to a
stop again.
Compared
to Slammer, or many of the other thrill rides at Thorpe - Rush
is not scary. The only worry that riders may have is the feeling
of insecurity. It's fast, thrilling, enjoyable yes - but does
not compete with Thorpe's other major flats for the scare factor.
So in all, it's a ride for the whole family to enjoy - not just
the thrillseekers - especially with it's 1.3m height limit. Go
on it for a laugh - not for scares.
